About Deb
My batik studio is located just west of Cincinnati in Okeana, Ohio, where I create batiks on cotton, silk, watercolor paper and rice paper.
I works from photos, sketches and color plans to transform the light and space of a familiar place through the unique and complex batik process. I also use batik to create mid century designs and fabric collages.
I am a member of the International Batik Guild. I have attended and taught batik workshops. Follow me on Instagram @debjojonesbatiks
About Batik
Batik is an art form which uses hot wax as a resist and cold water dyes to add layers of color. The layers of color dyes are painted on with a brush, or the entire piece is dipped in a tub of dye. Hot wax was applied using various brushes and batik tools called tjantings and kiskas.
