Collages

My collages are constructed of two or more batiks, sewn or glued together. The sum is greater than its parts, I think.

Collages

My first batik collage. I laid the blue strips atop the the orange and glued them down. I gave the discarded strips to a fellow artist, Judy Dominic, for use in her sculptures.

Intertwined

This is two batiks cut up and sewn together. Two circles become one and are still two, becoming more of an idea of circular. I like that they don’t line up perfectly. I like that the stitches are obvious. It makes them a part of the art. This piece has appeared in shows. I’d like to do more like this.

Fair Ribbon

This is a combination of 2 radial designs. Concentric squares are layered alternating between warm and cool color schemes. The pointed shapes radiating out remind me of a fair prize ribbon.

matted and framed 24 x 24”

Mid-Century Modern Collage

These batiks were inspired by the mid-century modern design movement popular in the United States and Europe from roughly 1945 to 1969. For these pieces, I began with nine individual batiks, then combined three into each one. 12” x 12” framed, each. May be purchased individually or as a set.
